The artist in me is dying to pick my wedding colors. But the color spectrum is so vast, and “they” say you should consider the dominant colors of your venue before you set your heart on your wedding colors. Don’t want them to clash, you know. I’m still venue hunting, so I have no idea what colors my venue will be.
“They” also tell you to be inspired by the colors of the season and integrate them into your wedding. We have had a hard time narrowing down a date. I don’t graduate from school until June of this year. We were thinking of an October 2011 wedding—pretty fall colors, not heat of the summer, not a huge chance of snow, and lots of time to plan—but unfortunately Dave’s best man is going to be out of the country. Well…we kind of need the best man, so now we are thinking of April 2011.
Now back to colors! Dave and I have an idea of what we don’t want—pastels. NO pastels. Bleh. Unfortunately, a typical spring wedding is synonymous with pastels. Plus, I’ve always dreamed of a black and white wedding. They’re just are so classy. After surfing around, I came across this Q&A site where I found the perfect color scheme…

If I could plan a Spring wedding, I would go with all of the beautiful, bright colors that Spring has to offer! Mixed bouquets of purples, oranges, bright green, hot pink, etc. These colors look fabulous against white and black! If you can find a florist, who is truly a creative artist, you can do amazing things with the flowers of Spring! Have fun planning!
I love this idea, and Dave likes this idea too, so I think I’m going to take it and run with it. Black and white attire only. Then splashes of vibrant pinks, purples, oranges, greens, etc. in the flowers and centerpieces. I don’t want the color to be overwhelming or annoying, just more of an accent. If done right, I think this will be gorgeous.
